Don
Tyler was born and raised in Northwest Indiana on a diversified family
farm. He was actively
involved in every area of this grain, hay, beef, sheep and swine
operation with his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Along with farming
full-time, Don’s father, Myron Tyler, has worked for many years in the
welding profession, and now has the best known farm welding shop in the
area. The neighbors swear
Myron can fix anything! Highlights of Don’s
professional career: v
Graduated
Purdue University, 1979, with dual option in Animal Sciences and Ag
Mechanization. v
Managed
grain and livestock operations in Illinois for 9 years. (1980 to 1989) v
Named
Illinois Swine Manager of the Year in 1988, and Indiana Swine Manager of
the Year in 1993. v
Financial
Partner and Manager of gilt multiplier unit for Moseley Genetics Plus,
Clarks Hill, IN. (1989 to 1995) v
Graduate,
Class VI, Indiana Ag Leadership Institute, (1994—1995) and traveled to
the countries of Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. v
A civilian
guest of the 13th MEU(SOC) Marine Assault Force in the
Pacific Ocean (February 2001) v
Regular
contributor to several Agricultural Magazines, providing practical
solutions to common challenges in personnel management. v
Recently
published the first book of its kind, “The Complete Guide To
Managing Agricultural Employees.ã” Current interests and
activities:
Since 1995, Don has been self-employed as a Management Advisor
and Coach for a variety of businesses, mostly in Agriculture, from the
Northeast to the Western Plains States.
His work focuses on helping production operations of all types
increase their profits, improve personal communication skills,
strengthen the relationship between employer and employee, help
employees to become more personally accountable and achieve higher
production goals for the operation.
He also works very closely with Farm Families, Ag Professionals,
Educators and Allied Industries in agriculture, helping them make the
transition to a new agricultural business environment.
Don speaks regularly to a variety of audiences.
His presentations are humorous, practical, and provide common
sense solutions to family business challenges, and to everyday
challenges in our interactions with people.
All of Don’s presentations are customized to the audience.
